THE MAZE
“The Maze” is a game that is designed to depict and shed light on the day-to-day life of Palestinians and the struggles they go through in order to access the lands they own that are on the other side of the wall. The player will be faced with real walls that they need to have the metal ball pass through them. There are multiple gates that are open for the ball to pass through, but the trick is, that only one gate will allow the player to actually go through to the other side. When trying to pass through one of the other gates, the player will be faced with struggles that will have to take them back to where they started.
The game is divided into two sections, the Palestinian section and the Israeli section. In the middle, the thin, tall concrete wall is available. In order to distinguish between both sides, embroidery pattern were added onto the Palestinian side, representing one of the most important assets of our culture. The other side, however is empty, with only one piece of land that have the embroidery on it, which is the Palestinian land that the metal ball is trying to reach. In addition to that, the way the wall is named differs from area to area. In Palestine it is called the “Apartheid Wall”, on the Israeli side, it is called the “Separation Wall”. So these two meanings were included as another form of distinguishing.
On the back, you get surprised with a phrase that ties everything together. Talking about how this is the reality Palestinians go through on a daily basis. Alongside the phrase, the map is there to show that this piece was taken out from the actual map.
